West Indian Jasmine (ചെത്തിപ്പൂവ് )

This West Indian Jasmine commonly called as ‘Chethippoovu’ (ചെത്തിപ്പൂവ് ) in Kerala homelands is one of the very attractive flower in the garden. This plant is a shrub whose leaves are dark green in colour and you can see this very beautiful flower which is either reddish orange or deep red in colour. This “Naadan Chethippoovu” is normally used in Hindu worships and also in ayurveda. They used to make “Chethipoo Maala” to be given to temples for daily worships. Chethippoovu is seen enormously in very old houses of Kerala which is a great nostalgia too.
